Encouraging Your Child to Brush Properly

Last updated 5 years ago

Younger children require a great deal of supervision when they brush their teeth. Make sure your child brushes and flosses all areas of his or her smile, and that he or she brushes for the proper amount of time. Pediatric dentists emphasize the importance of brushing for at least two minutes, twice daily, to help prevent tooth decay and maintain a beautiful smile.

If your child is reluctant to brush his or her teeth for at least two minutes, try creating a fun distraction for him or her to help the time go by easier. For some ideas on making tooth-brushing time fun for your child, watch this video.

Children should have pediatric dental check-ups and cleanings every six months. Schedule your child’s appointment with the pediatric dentists of Park View Pediatric Dentistry in Manhattan by calling (646) 402-6578.
